INTRODUCTION
The topic of the given diploma paper is 'The correlation between speech compositional forms and the genre of a literary work (on the material of J.C. Oates' gothic novel 'Bellefleur')'.
Its' objective is to find the correlation between speech compositional forms and the gothic genre on the basis of J.C. Oates' gothic novel 'Bellefleur'.
The tasks of the research are to show the main features of Gothic genre, its representatives and its development in literature, to analyze the text of the novel that has been segmented into the speech compositional forms [12, 108].
The desire to be terrified is as much part of human nature as the need to laugh. This has been recognized for as long as stories have been told, and today thriller writers and makers of horror movies depend on it. Popular kinds of novel devoted in predictable and artless ways to curdling the blood of the greatest number are understandably neglected or dismissed by literary critics. But one genre among them, the Gothic novel, which was originated in England by Horace Walpole's 'The Castle of Otranto' in 1764, and which flourished until the 1830s, has received much less attention than it deserves.
Список литературы CONCLUSIONS

"Bellefleur" by J.C. Oates is the family saga about the Belleleur clan, in which 6 generations of the family are described within the period over a century, beginning with 1770 up to the middle of the 19th century. In the preface to the novel J. C. Oates writes that Bellefleur is a non-existent, ficticious name, and that the whole book is nothing else but the work of imagination. It is a state of soul. And from this point of view, from the point of view of describing people's spiritual and emotional experience, the laws of the novel are utterly logical. There are 49 members in the Bellefleur's family. The tree of this family is presented at the beginning of the novel. It is a wealthy and notorious clan, whose members live in an enormous mansion, which is actually a castle with 64 rooms, situated on the shores of mystical Lake Noir. They own vast lands and profitable business, they employ their neighbors, they influence the government.
